Sarah Lynch Glover & Orie Ellen Lynch Sterling Scholarship

 

          Through the generosity of Sarah Lynch Glover and Orie Ellen Lynch Sterling, a scholarship was established at the Fairmont General Hospital Foundation to promote and foster nursing careers for high school students from the North Marion district of Marion County.   Sarah and Orie Ellen both graduated from the Schools of Nursing associated with this institution.  Sarah was a member of the last graduating class of Cook Hospital in September 1939 and Orie Ellen graduated from the Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing in June 1951.   The Lynch sisters both grew up in Mannington and went on to successful careers in nursing.   In recognition of their ability to be successful in nursing careers due to the proximity of medical training here in Marion County, they have created a scholarship to assist a graduating high school senior at North Marion High School.    This scholarship will be awarded to a senior who plans to continue their education in a professional nursing field.    The recipient of this $500 scholarship is announced at the annual Senior Recognition Assembly at NMHS.   The scholarship check is awarded by the FGH Foundation when you take or send proof of registration (i.e., course registration or class schedule) from a college or university to the Executive Office at Fairmont General Hospital.    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have a GPA of at least 3.0 by the first semester of your senior year.  Please complete this form and return it to the Counselor’s Office on or before May 1st .
