Scartz FamilyAlbert and Mayetta Scartz, residents of Hundred, WV and Tamarack, FL, have endowed a scholarship program for any high school graduating senior or a GED graduate who desires financial help in furthering their education through the FGH Foundation. This scholarship will provide $1000 and is known as the Scartz Family Scholarship. The first scholarship was presented in May 2002. The goal of this program is to help those who wish to continue their academic learning in college, technical school, or even an accredited training program geared toward professional development and obtaining new skills. This scholarship honors members of the Scartz family by helping others continue their education.

Since 1998, The FGH Foundation has provided scholarships to graduating seniors whose parents or grandparents are employed by FGH. The Scartz Family Scholarship is now the second one established for any graduating senior in the community.

In 2001, the Sarah Lynch Glover & Orie Ellen Lynch Sterling Scholarship was established through the generosity of Sarah Lynch Glover and Orie Ellen Lynch Sterling to promote and foster nursing careers for high school students from the North Marion district of Marion County. Sarah and Orie Ellen both graduated from the Schools of Nursing associated with this institution. Sarah was a member of the last graduating class of Cook Hospital in September 1939 and Orie Ellen graduated from the Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing in June 1951. The Lynch sisters both grew up in Mannington and went on to life-long careers in nursing. In recognition of their ability to be successful in the nursing profession due to the proximity of medical training here in Marion County, they have created a scholarship to assist a graduating high school senior at North Marion High School. The first scholarship was awarded to Joshua Gillespie, NMHS Class of '01.
